Little Apple Goat
By Caroline Jayne Church / Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co.
Little Apple Goat loves to eat fruit from the orchard. She doesn't want to munch on oats or grass or laundry left on the line. But all of a sudden, a stormy night destroys all all of the fruit trees in the orchard! The trunks are chopped down and the land is cleared. The farm animals cannot imagine life without the orchard, and Little Apple Goat doesn't know how she will manage without her fruit. Time passes, and this clever tale will charm young readers and also introduce them to the changing seasons. Recommended for ages 3 to 7.

Optional Craft/Math Activity: 10 Apples Up on Top
This is a fun way for children to work on early counting skills while also creating
a portrait of themselves. First, after you read the book, "Ten Apples Up on
Top" by Dr. Seuess you can have your children make their own face on a paper
plate. Then let them write the numbers 1-10 on pre-cut apple shapes, and help
them staple them in order so that they re all up on top of their heads.

Ten Apples Up On Top!

3 in 1: A Picture of God
By Joanne Marxhausen / Concordia Publishing House

Handwriting Practice: A is for Apple
This is another optional handwriting worksheet for
children who are ready to practice tracing the
letters of the alphabet. A is for Apple, and they
can color a picture of the apple as well.
Optional Math Activity: Apple Flashcards
If your children are starting early math, this is a fun way for them to start
learning early addition problems. Take some apples that have small
equations written on one side and the answers on the other. Print your
apples from a template, cut from construction paper or pick up a pack
of pre-cuts from the dollar store.
Then perhaps while you're playing "fruit stand" or "store", you can talk
with your child about how these are very special apples, and if you want
to have them for your store, you have to figure out each one's secret
number! Then let them go through the apples and add to their stores
collection.

This is a printable Apple File Folder Game where children can
match the number on the apple to the amount of seeds in the

and would be a wonderful activity to send home with children.
Mount to a File Folder, or fold the title page in half to make a take
home pocked for the children take their game home with them.
